Charles Dan is the Special Representative of the International Labour Organization (ILO) on Youth and Social Inclusion. Prior to this responsibility, Charles Dan was ILO Assistant Director-General for Africa and Special Representative to the African Union Commission and the UN Economic Commission for Africa. He was also Senior Adviser to the ILO Director-General, and Director of the ILO Preparatory Team for the African Union Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government on Employment and Poverty Alleviation. Charles Dan’s extensive global experience started with the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) where he rose from Assistant to the Secretary-General to Executive Secretary. Charles Dan has a track record of more than 30 years of experience in reform, change management, capacity building, negotiations, advocacy, policy advice, development cooperation, resource mobilization, monitoring and evaluation. He has addressed numerous audiences on governance, fair globalization, sustainable development, human rights, peacebuilding, climate change, demographic dividend, migrations, refugees, terrorism, inclusive growth, social cohesion, social justice, decent work, entrepreneurship, youth, gender and the future of work. Charles Dan is a graduate of the Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po Paris). He also holds a Diploma of Higher Studies in Public Law (University of Paris I Pantheon-La Sorbonne).
